An Auspicious Start

After the excitement of getting heron photos and discovering sunbathing turtles, I had overlooked this treasure from near the start of my hike. I'm not used to seeing deer in Rockville. Cattle and sheep, yes. 

First, I saw this deer hiding behind the bush. Just watching.

I see you.

And a little further left and much much closer was another deer.

This one stood there a few moments and then followed the other deer into the trees.
