More Pena Adobe Photos Part 2

Continuing the Pena Adobe Spring 2014 photos, we begin part 2 still in the rain.

Geese flying the gray skies

Walking around the lagoon, one can often hear the sound of geese. They seem to have a permanent residence on the east shore of the lagoon. This pair took to the skies.  Below, a profile close up of a goose against the surface of the lagoon which provided a hi key background for the photo.

Profile close up of a goose

A typical spring day in Pena Adobe. Lush green hills, a few clouds, sun shining on the lagoon.

Atop the hill overlooking the lagoon and creek

I was accompanied by my friends' daughters (eager hikers both) and their friend.  While I struggled downhill with camera in one hand and a leash in the other and tried not to fall face first walking with a very excited dog. Booka casts an impressive shadow, I am reminded of wargs from Lord of the Rings. Too bad he's not wearing his spiked collar.

No slacking.

Friends who've hiked with me have often wondered about this tree. Did it fall after being struck by lightning?

Probably the easiest tree to climb is one that has fallen over

A path in the garden

The path down the hill leads to Jack Hume Grove, a picnic area shaded by tall trees. The grove is a well tended garden of colorful plants and stone lined trails.
